Fun fact: this is one of the very first pictures w Fun fact: this is one of the very first pictures we took together - back in 2019 - how cute? ♥️ we weren’t even “officially” in a relationship yet, we had only known each other for two months and yet we decided to travel together to Paris and see where it would go. Turns out I (Laura) asked Marine to be my girlfriend a few days after we took this picture, in a little boat trip by the Eiffel tower, how romantic 😂🥰 What’s even funnier is that Marine’s cousin took this picture (we didn’t have a tripod yet hahaha) and he had no idea we were together - he didn’t even know Marine was gay 😂 so this is us pretending we’re besties when we’re clearly in love with each other. I love looking back at these pictures and then thinking about how far our relationship has come and how much we’ve changed together. And yes, Marine’s cousin now knows we’re together (even though she never actually told him, maybe it was just too obvious 😂) Do you still have the first pictures you and your partner took? Nature is our happy place 🍃 we definitely miss Nature is our happy place 🍃 we definitely miss spending more time outdoors! We live in quite an urban area, so with restrictions here we kind of got trapped in the city. We became slightly obsessed with flamingos after v We became slightly obsessed with flamingos after visiting this park in the south of France 🦩💕 We kept seeing flamingos everywhere, but it was so hard to actually see them up close until we found this place in the Camargue region! Happy lockdown days ❄️💕 Snow always makes Happy lockdown days ❄️💕 Snow always makes us happy, but the truth is that we’re finding it hard to keep positive during these weeks - and that’s okay! I think the hardest part is convincing ourselves that it’s okay to not feel our best, to feel unmotivated or unproductive at times. A third lockdown isn’t easy for us, of course we all just want things to go back to normal as soon as possible. If you’re not in the best place right now, we just want to reassure you that it’s okay to feel that way. Did you know that we laugh because our bodies cann Did you know that we laugh because our bodies cannot contain the joy? In this picture, we are both laughing. Not because anything was funny, but just because of how happy we were. Our bodies just couldn’t contain all that happiness, it had to come out one way or another. Laughter is the answer! As soon as we saw snow falling from the sky, from our balcony. We decided to get dressed and go outside! When we got outside, it stopped snowing. We took a few pictures. And then, as we were about to go back inside, it started snowing really, really HARD! We couldn’t have been any happier! How magical! We may be stuck in this lockdown. We may be unable to do all the things we want to do. And sure, it’s has been a long time now, and it’s about time for all of this to stop. But, we are so grateful for the small things that we can do. And we know that we will appreciate everything else so much more when we can do them again. For now, we do what we have to do to stop the spread! We cannot wait to set foot on a mountain again, or even book a holiday abroad! Sooo remember how we said we were very optimistic Sooo remember how we said we were very optimistic about 2021 on our last post? Yeah England just announced a third national lockdown yesterday 😂 As much as we can’t wait to be done with this whole virus thing, we know this is the right thing to be done right now - we’re having way too many new cases every day, it does seems like things are a bit out of control here 😔 On a bright side, the mass vaccination program seems to be working quite well so far, so we can see a little light at the end of the tunnel! The last little trip we managed to go to before this happened was to the Peak District and it was soo worth it! We can’t wait for things to get better so we can go in more trips like this. How are things with this virus where you live? A bit of what our Christmas looked like this year A bit of what our Christmas looked like this year 🥰 Since we’re both far away from home and from our families, we wanted to make something special for us to enjoy together. Christmas 2019 🎄 At this time last year, I was Christmas 2019 🎄 At this time last year, I was getting on the plane to Brasilia. Well, one of the 4 planes I had to take to go to Brasilia. I was going to meet Laura’s family and get the privilege to spend it with her family! It was such a cute Christmas. A bit intimidating, especially since I have never met any of them, and they spoke a language that I couldn’t speak. Nevertheless, I felt so welcome and part of the family. This year may be different, but I can’t wait to be able to spend another Christmas with her family, and her with mine. We are working hard to make this dream a reality, whilst making sure we have some safety. We know that one day it will come true, but in the meantime, we take full advantage to all of our little trips. This picture was taken in Lake District, on a sunny-ish day (england, you know). What you see isn’t us posing.. in reality here is the scene for you: the drone’s battery was running low, as always (it goes down so quickly when you don’t see the time go by). We were trying to figure out where we should look for the picture. And... I guess, we just didn’t pick the same direction! When you’re out and about, please always remember to take your rubbish with you, and only leave your footprints behind. No one enjoys views full of plastics, foods and other kind of waste. Gratitude - the best kind of attitude 💛 One da Gratitude - the best kind of attitude 💛 One day Oprah said: “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” I couldn’t agree more with her. When we focus on what we don’t have, we start living in a constant state of unfulfillment. We start feeling unhappy and desiring more. Humans tend to always want more. More money. More, more, more. We never take the time to fully appreciate what we already have. We need to switch from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset. Instead of believing there is never enough resources, we need to start thinking that there is always enough. Being grateful helps develop that mindset, which helps us be more happy with our lives. We know that 2020 hasn’t been the best year in our lives, but we’re sure that there is plenty of things to be grateful for. We are grateful for being able to have been able to go see our families for a few months at the beginning. We are grateful for being safe, at home and with food in our plates. We are grateful for our friends. We are grateful for being able to be with each other in these times. We are grateful to have been able to buy new equipment for photography and videography. We are grateful for so many little and bigger things! Wildlife has always been a big part of our lives, Wildlife has always been a big part of our lives, alongside travelling. Marine has always been obsessed with animals and Laura did a biology degree and is now doing a masters in wildlife documentary. We can easily sit down and watch animals for hours, Marine can particularly do thay with ants on the ground 🐜😂 We’re so lucky we got to see the deer rutting season so close to home this year. For those who don’t know, that’s their mating season - the stags get very territorial and are quite aggressive with other males to be able to mate with the females. They make very loud sounds and often get in “fights” with each other, it’s soo interesting to watch! Hiking Amateurs’ Adventure ⛰ Today, Laura and Hiking Amateurs’ Adventure ⛰ Today, Laura and I decided to try and catch a sunrise in Peak District. Everything started fine, we checked the weather app, today was the only sunny day of the week. Great, the sun was supposed to rise on time and the rain to be gone by then. Perfect, we had a plan. We woke up at 5, left the house by 5:30, and we were on our way. A little bit of a scary drive with these crazy drivers, acting like these tiny mountain roads are motorways. We made it there by 6:50. Awesome, we had about 40 minutes to find a nice little spot in the mountains. Off we went to try to hike up. That’s where the ‘fun’ began. First, our shoes kept sliding. Then, the rain and the wind decided to come back. Hardcore. I fell twice in the mud with barehands. My hands were freezing. My knee was hurting - I hit a rock as I fell. My jeans were completely soaked. Laura did trip a few times too, but surprisingly this time it was me the one falling. That’s not usually the case!! The sun did not show up. The rain did not stop. The wind did not stop. But.. at least I’ve saved a pretty cool location. Next time! /!\ HELP /!\ I’m sure I wouldn’t have fallen if I had proper hiking boots. All we have is trainers, and we know it’s not sufficient. So.. can all our hiking friends, or any hiker coming across this post, give us some advice? We are essentially looking for recommendations on the best and affordable hiking gear - jacket, trousers and boots!
